We are the largest tennis club in the Wycombe area, with six excellent tennis courts (three all-weather and three astro-turf, all floodlit), a wonderful new clubhouse and a current membership of over 140 adult players. We offer a mixture of competitive league tennis for experienced players, top quality coaching, off-peak and junior sections, and a lively calendar of social events.
| We are located about a
mile east of High Wycombe town centre, just off the A40 London Road, in a
secluded, sheltered location by the River Wye. Click here for detailed map and directions. |
As you would expect from a large, well established club, we cater for pretty much the whole range from beginner to high level team play. For beginners, we offer a wide range of coaching options, plus an "off-peak" level membership for those who are improving or those who would not benefit from the extra court time offered by senior membership. For experienced players, there is the opportunity to play in our many league teams.
Yes, we have a very popular junior section, with over 200 members. Click here for details.
We have three levels of adult membership: Senior : £190 per year. Off-Peak : £82 per year. Under-21 : £52 per year. Junior : £32 per year (£16 for second child in family; third child free membership). Social : £10 per year. The membership year runs from April to March (i.e. fees are normally due on April 1st), but pro-rata fees are available for people joining mid-year.
Off-peak membership is designed to encourage players to join the club and improve their tennis, or for those for whom it is more convenient to play at off-peak times. There are sessions allocated weekly for use by off-peak members in addition to the courts being available midweek for casual play. Also, off-peak members are invited to join in social tennis with the senior members on "Off-Peak Member Afternoons". The off-peak groups are certainly one of the most friendly and sociable sections of the club and there is quite a range of play at this level. Generally, it is necessary for the committee to give approval for a player to move up from the off-peak to senior membership, and many of our members come into the senior section this way.
Oh, yes! Unlike many clubs, we have a singles ladder. In summer, Friday evenings are allocated as singles ladder time, in winter this switches to ad-hoc bookings using the booking system.
Even though we have six courts, we find that demand for court-time is sometimes high, so rules are applied specifying the times at which each membership category may play. Click here to see the full list of playing times.
The first thing to do is contact our membership secretary, Andy Gibbs. He will answer any questions you have, explain all of the membership options and invite you down to see the club for yourself and have a few games with existing members. Click here for details of how to contact Andy, and here for an image of our membership/coaching leaflet.
